Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas, Nev. - The Las Vegas Wranglers(r) announced today that they have agreed to terms with left winger Ned Lukacevic ("Loo-cah-seh-vitch") and defenseman Jeff May for the 2011-12 season. Both players have previously spent time with Las Vegas.
Lukacevic, 25, turned professional in 2006-07 with the AHL's Manchester Monarchs. Since then, the 6'0, 200-pound left wing has seen playing time with four AHL teams (Monarchs, Providence Bruins, Texas Stars and San Antonio Rampage) and spent multiple seasons with the ECHL's Reading Royals and Las Vegas Wranglers. While playing for the Wranglers in 2009-10, Lukacevic racked up 69 points (30g, 39a) and 51 penalty minutes in 66 games. The Podgorica, Serbia native also appeared in 17 Wranglers games last season, earning 18 points (8g, 10a) and 24 penalty minutes.
"We've got a good club here and a good group of guys who are hungry to move up," said Lukacevic. "I'm excited to get back out there for the fans."
May, 24, played for the Wranglers in the 2008-09 season. After tallying 10 points (4g, 6a) and 21 penalty minutes in 23 games, he earned a call-up to both the AHL's Providence Bruins and San Antonio Rampage. For the past two seasons, the 6'1, 186-pound blueliner has stayed with the Rampage, collecting 15 points (3g, 12a) and 84 penalty minutes across 102 games. May was selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the fifth round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, and signed as a free agent by the Phoenix Coyotes in 2009.
"Ned and Jeff are two AHL-quality players," said Head Coach and General Manager Ryan Mougenel. "Both guys have played here in Vegas before and we expect both of them to perform at a high-caliber level."
The Wranglers host Opening Night, billed as "The Last Professional Hockey Game on Earth," on Friday, Oct. 21 at 7:05 p.m. against Ontario Reign. 2011-12 season seat packages, starting at $30, are on sale now at 702-471-PUCK. The Wranglers play all 36 regular season home games at the Orleans Arena, located next to the Orleans Hotel and Casino at 4500 W. Tropicana Ave.
