Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL's Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that they have agreed to terms with goaltender Danny Taylor for the 2011-12 season. To make room on the Training Camp roster, the team has released Mike Battaglia from his tryout agreement.
Taylor, now entering his sixth season as a professional, has seen time in the ECHL, AHL, NHL, and overseas during his career. The 25-year-old Plymouth, England native was a seventh-round selection of the Los Angeles Kings in 2004 and made his NHL debut with the Kings on March 29, 2008 against the Dallas Stars. Taylor has also logged 51 career games at the American Hockey League (AHL) level, earning a 2.65 goals-against average and a 91.4% save-percentage during that span. Last year, he appeared in four games with the Springfield Falcons (AHL) before heading overseas to join the Hamburg Freezers (Germany). In 28 contests with the Freezers, Taylor posted a 2.90 goals-against average and 90.5% save percentage. The six-foot-one, 177-pound backstop has also seen time in the ECHL; He broke into the league in 2006-07 with the now-defunct Texas Wildcatters and went on to skate with the Reading Royals and Gwinnett Gladiators.
Taylor will start in net tonight for the Cyclones when they battle the Wheeling Nailers in a preseason tilt at WesBacno Arena in Wheeling, West Virginia. The puck drops tonight at 7:35pm.
This Saturday, the Cyclones will host the Nailers at U.S. Bank Arena in the preseason finale at 6:30pm. The game will be preceded by the Inaugural Power Play 5K Run/Walk presented by Powerade, which is scheduled to get underway at 5:00pm. For more information, visit CyclonesHockey.com.
