Florida Everblades News Release
ESTERO, FL - Yannick Tifu scored twice to help pace the Chicago Express to a 4-1 victory over the Florida Everblades Friday night at Germain Arena.
The two teams traded offensive opportunities in the first half of the opening period, but it took the efforts of a former 'Blades forward to break the scoreless tie. Chicago's Yannick Tifu gave his team a 1-0 lead after wristing a shot past Florida goaltender John Muse at 9:54 of the period. The Express took a 1-0 lead into the break.
The Express made it 2-0 at the seven minute mark of the second period. Travis Vermeulen took advantage of a scramble down low, and slipped a rebound shot past a sprawling Muse. The Express continued to roll receiving a power play goal from Pierre-Luc Faubert, and a second tally from Tifu to take a 4-0 lead into the second intermission.
The Everblades battled hard in a chippy third period, and got on the board at the17:01 mark. Florida broke into the zone on an odd-man rush, and Justin Shugg with some fancy stick work, was able to work the puck around Chicago goaltender Rob Nolan to make the score 4-1.
Muse takes the loss in goal stopping 28 of 32 shots, while Nolan turned aside all but one of the 28 shots he faced in the game.
