THIS WEEK'S OPPONENTS...
The Hershey Bears (Colorado) are currently 5th in the East Division with 41 points and have a 20-18-1-0 record... The Bears are 8-2-0-0 in their last 10 games and are 11-8-1-0 at home this season... Hershey is ranked 13th while on the powerplay at 15.4% and are 15th while killing penalties at 83.7%... C Eric Perrin leads the team with 34 points (13G,21A) this season... Goaltender Peter Bundaj has a 14-10-0 record, two shutouts, a 2.66 GAA and a .921 save percentage... D Nick Naumenko has five points (2G,3A) in his last five games... This will be the first of four meeting this season between the Leafs and Bears.
The Syracuse Crunch (Columbus) are currently 7th in the North Division with 36 points and have a 15-18-3-3 record... The Crunch are 4-6-0-0 in their last 10 games and are 6-9-2-1 at home this season... Syracuse is ranked 16th while on the powerplay at 14.9% and are 24th while killing penalties at 80.9%... RW Joe Motzko leads the team with 26 points (12G,14A) this season... Goaltender Karl Goehring has a 9-13-0 record, two shutouts, a 2.71 GAA and a .905 save percentage... RW Peter Ferraro has seven points (2G,5A) in his last five games... The Leafs are 3-2-0-1 against the Crunch this season.
The Binghamton Senators (Ottawa) are currently 2nd in the East Division with 51 points and have a 23-14-3-2 record... The Sens are 8-2-0-0 in their last 10 games and are 15-4-2-1 at home this season... Binghamton is ranked 1st in the AHL while on the powerplay at 21.7% and are 20th while killing penalties at 82.4%... C Jason Spezza leads the AHL with 60 points (17G,43A) this season... Goaltender Billy Thompson has an 11-5-0 record, a 2.59 GAA and a .913 save percentage... LW Denis Hamel has nine points (3G,6A) in his last five games... The Leafs are 3-0 against the Senators this season.
MAPLE LEAFS PLAYER OF THE WEEK...
The St. John's Maple Leafs have nominated RW David Ling as the Maple Leafs Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, January 16th. Last week, Ling tallied seven points (3G,4A) and had 18 shots on net. Four of Ling's points were on the powerplay and he was involved in all three of St. John's game winning goals (G,2A). David Ling was originally drafted with Quebec's 9th choice, 179th overall in 1993.
LEAFLETS...
- The Baby Buds went 3-2-0-0 in five games last week. St. John's will play three games on the road this week against Hershey, Syracuse and Binhamton.
- Maple Leafs forward David Ling had a six game points streak snapped on Sunday. Ling had four goals and five assists during that span.
- St. John's will play three more road games next week before returning home for an eight game homestand at Mile One Stadium.
- Rookie center Jeremy Williams has eight points including four goals in his last 10 games.
- Goaltender J.S. Aubin has a 6-2-0 record, a 2.61 GAA and a .937 save percentage in the teams last 10 games.
NEXT WEEK'S OPPONENT...
The Baby Leafs will take on the Hershey Bears next Wednesday, Janauary 26th at the Giant Centre.
The Maple Leafs will play a two game set next Friday and Saturday, January 28th & 29th against the Cleveland Barons.
