This week the Pirates announced the 8th Annual "Evening with the Pirates" presented by Key Bank will take place on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at The Stadium Restaurant and Sports Bar. This year's event will benefit the Portland Pirates Foundation and will support the Pirates new exhibit at the Children's Museum of Maine next spring. To order tickets or for more information about supplying an auction item with a donation call the Pirates office at (207) 828-4665 x301.

The Pirates are 15-20-3-4 entering this week's games.

Friday, January 21st @ Providence 7:05 p.m.

Jared Aulin has three points (2 goals, 1 assist) in the three games against the Bruins this season.

Saturday, January 22nd, join members of the Portland Pirates at the Hannaford Supermarket in Auburn, ME from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. and in Westbrook, ME with the WBLM "Street Team" from 12:30 p.m.- 2:00 p.m. The players will be giving away tickets every 10 minutes to upcoming Pirates games.

NEXT HOME GAME: Saturday, January 22nd vs. WORCESTER 7:05 p.m.- Catch the pre-game concert at 4:00 p.m. featuring WMSJ artist Chris Rice sponsored by JOY 89.3FM. Reserved tickets are $10 for the game and the concert is free with game admission. Saturday is also VIP Parts, Tires & Service T-shirt Night! All fans in attendance will receive a Portland Pirates/VIP T-shirt!

Trent Whitfield leads the Pirates in points with 27 (9 goals, 18 assists).

Friday, 2/4 vs. Lowell 7:05 p.m.- The first 1,500 fans attending the game will receive a water bottle courtesy of State Farm Insurance. Bring your skates after the game and skate with the Pirates sponsored by Mainelykids.com.

Saturday, 2/5 vs. Manchester 7:05 p.m.- This is the second of two U.S. Cellular Nights. The first 5,000 fans will receive the second and final set of 12 Portland Pirates player collector cards sponsored by U.S. Cellular. The first 4,000 fans in the building will also receive a pair of thunder sticks courtesy of U.S. Cellular.

IN THE COMMUNITY

On Sunday, Noel Thompson, a student from STRIVE U was recognized for his efforts as an Account Executive with the Pirates and for his sale of over 1,500 tickets to the Pirates game against Manchester.

Thompson took part in the puck drop at center ice to commence the game between the Portland Pirates and the Manchester Monarchs. STRIVE U is a program which provides opportunities for young adults with developmental disabilities to make an impact in the community by performing jobs with local employers, like the Pirates, to teach independent living skills. Through Noel's efforts, he raised $750 for STRIVE U.

Tuesday, January 18th, the Pirates will practice outdoors from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. behind the Scarborough Intermediate School.

Tuesday, January 18th from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Louis Robitaille and Justin Eddy will present the Pirates third "Goals for Success" program of the year at the Scarborough Middle School sponsored by Maine Healthy Partnerships and Pepsi.

Wednesday, January 19th, Pirates defenseman Nolan Yonkman will join Dave and Michelle on 99.9FM "The Wolf" morning show at 7:30 a.m.

Wednesday, January 19th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Pirates players Steve Eminger, Brian Sutherby and Boyd Gordon will be "Celebrity Scoopers" at the Friendly's location in Westbrook, ME, with all tips being donated to Easter Seals.

Tomorrow, catch the Pirates' Head Coach Tim Army on WJAB at 8:00 a.m. on the "The Morning Jab" on WJAB 95.5FM and 1440AM.

Boyd Gordon extended his point-scoring streak to six games on Saturday with a goal and an assist.

Sunday, January 16th vs. Manchester (3-1 L)

Jakub Klepis scored the Pirates goal and extended his point scoring steak to three games. Klepis is now tied for 9th in the league among rookies with 18 points.
