Bulldogs earn three points in three games and prepare for three-game road-trip

The Hamilton Bulldogs will begin a three-game road trip in Chicago on Wednesday, Jan.19th (8:00 p.m.) when they face the Wolves (23-12-4-1) at Allstate Arena. The Wolves have won the first two meetings between the clubs, including a 4-2 victory last week on Tuesday, Jan. 11th and an overtime victory on Dec. 3rd, 2004. Hamilton will then travel to Cincinnati (18-21-0-2) on Friday, Jan. 21st (7:35 p.m.) to take on the Mighty Ducks at Cincinnati Gardens. To round out the week, the Bulldogs will visit the Bradley Center in Milwaukee (25-10-2-1) on Saturday, Jan.22nd (8:00 p.m.) to square off with the Admirals.

The Bulldogs finished this past week by defeating the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks 7-2 on Saturday night at Copps Coliseum. The seven goals scored in the contest were the most Hamilton has scored in a single game since Feb. 11th, 2004. Before Saturday's win, Hamilton was doubled up by Chicago 4-2 (Jan. 11) and lost 2-1 in a shootout against Cincinnati (Jan. 14). The Bulldogs earned three points and a 1-1-0-1 record this past week and are now 16-18-4-4 on the season.

LARRIVEE ASSIGNED TO LONG BEACH: The Hamilton Bulldogs have announced that forward Christian Larrivee has been assigned to the Long Beach Ice Dogs of the ECHL. Larrivee, a 22-year-old native of Gaspe, Quebec, played in nine games for the Bulldogs and registered one goal and two penalty minutes. Prior to being recalled to the Bulldogs on December 19th, the 6'3, 200 pound forward, played in 17 games for Long Beach and had earned five points (3-2-5).

WEEKLY REVIEW Jan. 11 at Chicago (L 4-2) - Christian Larrivee opened the scoring with his first goal of the season and Tomas Plekanec scored his team leading 13th goal of the season. A 2-0 lead slipped away when Chicago scored two goals on the power play and two short-handed markers just 31 seconds apart. Hamilton goaltender Dan Ellis made 34 saves and suffered the loss.

Jan 14 vs Cincinnati (SOL 2-1) - The Bulldogs had a 1-0 lead heading into the third period with a power-play goal by Dan Jancevski. Cincinnati tied the game on a goal by Joel Stepp. The tie lasted until the shootout when Chris Kunitz scored the only goal and gave the Ducks the win. Hamilton was 1-8 on the power play. Yann Danis suffered his fourth shootout loss of the season.

Jan 15 vs Cincinnati (W 7-2) - Six different Hamilton players had multi-point games led by Philippe Plante, who tallied one goal and three assists. Tomas Plekanec (2g,1a) and Jason Ward (1g, 2a) scored three points apiece. Steve Ott (1g,1a) and Duncan Milroy (2 assists) added two points. Andrew Archer (1g-1a) scored his first goal of the season, while Chris Higgins scored his ninth. Hamilton was 3-12 on the power play, while Cincinnati was 1-6. Goaltender Dan Ellis made 32 saves for the win.

TEAM NOTES

The last time Hamilton scored seven goals was on Feb. 11th of last season... the Bulldogs scored a season-high four goals in the third...previous game-high was five goals (twice against Grand Rapids)...most goals allowed is six, only once this season, against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton... Bulldogs have lost only once when scoring three or more goals in a game...Hamilton is now 1-4 in shootouts with Dan Ellis earning the lone victory.

Tomas Plekanec - Recorded four points (3-1-4) this week and now has 11 points (8-3-11) in his last 12 games. Plekanec leads the Bulldogs in scoring with 28 points. (15-13-28).

Jason Ward - Scored three points (1-2-3) vs. Cincinnati on Saturday. Ward is fourth in team scoring with 20 points (9-11-20).

Phillipe Plante - Notched a career high four points (1-3-4) vs. Cincinnati on Saturday. Plante has earned 12 points (2-10-12) on the season.

Benoit Dusablon - has announced his retirement from professional hockey. Dusablon had been suffering from neck spasms and did not play in any games with the Bulldogs this season.

TD Canada Trust Smiles On Ice Game - Friday, January 28th vs. Syracuse Crunch The Hamilton Bulldogs in cooperation with TD Canada Trust and McMaster Children's Hospital have announced the Ninth Annual 'TD Canada Trust Smiles On Ice Game' will take place on Friday, January 28th at 7:30 p.m., when the Bulldogs host the Syracuse Crunch at Copps Coliseum. Proceeds from the game will go to "Smiles On Ice" in support of McMaster Children's Hospital. Fans can purchase tickets at area TD Canada Trust branches, Copps Coliseum Box Office, and at all Ticketmaster locations.

This is the second game of the season between Hamilton and Milwaukee and will mark the third and final game of the Bulldogs road trip...Admirals' defenceman Brad Tiley and Forward Darren Haydar each had two points (1g,1a) versus the Bulldogs in a 3-2 win on December 30, 2004, which was the first of four meetings this season between the two clubs...Forward Simon Gamache is tied for third in the AHL with 54 points...Milwaukee is currently in first place in the West Division with a record of 25-10-2-1
