
Norfolk wins three of four divisional games

NORFOLK, VA - The Admirals played both the Hershey Bears and Philadelphia Phantoms home and away last week, winning three of the contests to make a lone claim on third place in the East Division. Norfolk and Hershey exchanged 3-2 victories at each other's barn, with Hershey sneaking a win at Scope on January 12th and the Ad's coming from behind to defeat the Bears on January 15th. Hosting the Phantoms on January 14th, Pavel Vorobiev scored twice to lead the Admirals to a 6-2 thumping of the division leaders. Norfolk capped off the week with a 3-2 shootout victory at Philadelphia on Sunday.
The Admirals have just one game this week as they host Hershey on Friday, January 21st.
STANDINGS
Norfolk is third in the East with 50 points (23-16-1-3). They trail Philadelphia (24-10-2-4, 54 pts) and Binghamton (23-14-3-2, 51 pts). Wilkes-Barre/Scranton is fourth (19-11-5-4, 47 pts) followed by Hershey (20-18-1-0, 41 points), Bridgeport (15-21-1-1, 32 pts) and Albany (10-21-4-4, 28 pts).

ADMIRALS NOTEBOOK
· Norfolk's 3-2 win over Philadelphia on Sunday was the team's first road
shootout win since the rule was implemented this season. The Admirals are
now 4-3 in games requiring a shootout including a mark of 3-0 at Scope.
· When Philadelphia outshot the Admirals 31-25 on Sunday, it was the first
time in seven games a foe outshot Norfolk and only the second time in 13
games Norfolk did not record more shots than its opposition.
· The Admirals are 7-2-0-0 over their last nine matches.
· Norfolk's 6-2 victory against Philadelphia on January 14th was the team's
first six-goal game since February 27, 2004, versus Binghamton.
· Rene Bourque has points in six straight games (3+4=7 points). He leads
Norfolk in goals (15) and points (29). Among AHL rookies, Bourque is second
in points, tied for second in goals and tied for fifth in assists (14).
· Pavel Vorobiev has seven points (4g, 3a) over the last six games.
· Michael Leighton has allowed three goals just twice in his last seven
starts, going 6-1-0 during that stretch.
· Marty Wilford has an assist in five of the last six games (5a total).
· Eric Nickulas has five points over his last eight games (2g, 3a).
