Admirals sweep tour of the lake

OVERALL...The Admirals (25-10-2-1) enter this week's action leading the AHL's West Division by two points over the Chicago Wolves (23-12-4-1). The Admirals trail the Western Conference leading Manitoba Moose (27-10-1-2) by four points and the Rochester Americans (25-9-3-3) by three points in the battle for the Western Conference lead. The Ads enter this week's action with a three-game winning streak and have won seven of their last eight outings.

THIS WEEK'S ACTION...

VS. SAN ANTONIO & @SAN ANTONIO...The Ads are 2-2-0-1 vs. the Rampage in 2004-05, including 1-2 at the Bradley Center. The Admirals have lost two straight to San Antonio at the Bradley Center, but are 4-3 in the last seven. In San Antonio, the Admirals have a point in nine straight games sporting a 7-0-1-1 mark.

VS. HAMILTON...Milwaukee won the only meeting this season, 3-2 on December 30. They are 3-4-1-1 in nine lifetime meetings vs. the Bulldogs and 2-2-1-0 at the Bradley Center.

LAST WEEK'S ACTION...On Sunday, Darren Haydar scored a pair of goals and Vern Fiddler added three points (1g-2a) leading the Admirals to a 6-2 victory over the St. John's Maple Leafs at the BC. Hayder's second goal of the game at 8:07 of the third period gave the Admirals a 3-2 victory over the Griffins on Saturday night in Grand Rapids. On Friday night, Tony Hrkac and Andrew Hutchinson each scored a pair of goals and Simon Gamache dished off three assists leading the Admirals to a 5-2 victory over the Chicago Wolves at the Allstate Arena. The Aeros snapped the Admirals four-game winning streak with a 7-0 victory in Houston on Tuesday night.

NO OVERTIME...After needing overtime in six of their first 17 frays the Admirals have gone since November 27th, 21 games, without playing OT. The Ads, who are 3-0-2-1 in OT/SO games, lost 2-1 at Manitoba in their last overtime game.

AFTER 38...Through 38 games, the Ads have 53 points (25-10-2-1) compared to 43 points (18-13-5-2) last season. Through the first 22 road games they sport a 14-5-2-1 mark compared to 11-6-3-2 in 2003-04. On home ice Milwaukee was 8-6-2 after 16 last season compared to 11-5 this season.

ROAD WARRIORS...The Admirals play three straight home games before embarking on a grueling seven game road trip and play nine of their next ten games on the road. The Admirals under Claude Noel have amassed an impressive 83 of a possible 124 points (.669) in 62 games on the road.

MR. 299...Coach Noel is looking for his 300th career head coaching victory. He enters this week's action with a 299-226-7-56 record, including 71-34-7-6 in the AHL. Noel posted a 140-95-0-29 mark in the ECHL and an IHL record of 88-97-0-21.

TRANSACTIONS...The Admirals have added defenseman Burke Henry and center Chris Minard to the roster. Henry, who was acquired on loan from the San Antonio Rampage, played in 24 games in San Antonio recording two assists with 44 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-3, 205-pounder has 109 points, including 91 assists in 339 AHL games over the past six seasons. Minard had 37 points, including 26 goals in 36 games this season for the Alaska (ECHL) Aces. Last season, the 23-year old, Owen Sound, Ontario native played in 64 games for the San Angelo (CHL) Saints amassing 75 points, including 39 goals.

GAMACHE...Gamache has a point in nine of the last 10 and 13 of the last 15 games, amassing 25 points (8g-17a) over that span. The 5'9", 185-pound left wing has accumulated 43 points (13g-30a) in his last 27 contests. He leads the Admirals and is tied for third in the AHL with 54 points (19g-35a) and is third in the league with 35 assists.

HAYDAR...Haydar has scored in eight of the last nine games totaling 16 points (7g-9a). The University of New Hampshire alum has 27 points (11g-16a) over his last 21 games and is second among Admirals scorers with 35 points (15g-20a).

FINLEY...Brian Finley has been victorious in seven of his last eight starts and has a 1.88 goals against average and a .935 save percentage over that stretch. In 30 games, Finley has posted a 19-9-1 mark, with a 2.25 goals against average, a .921 save percentage and three shutouts.

ONE-TWO PUNCH...Andrew Hutchinson ranks third among AHL defensemen with 29 points (9g-20a) and shares the goal scoring lead among AHL blueliners with nine. Dan Hamhuis is tied for sixth among AHL defensemen with 27 points (6g-21a). He has 17 points (4g-13a) over his last 19 outings.

POWER PLAY...The Admirals have 51 power play goals and share the AHL lead with Manchester. They also rank third in power play percentage completing 51 of 245 chances (20.8%). The Ads have scored a power play goal in eight of the last nine games and multiple PPGs in five. Over the past eight games they sport an impressive 32.6% completion rate (14 of 43). Gamache leads the team in power play scoring with 24 points and shares the AHL lead with 12 PPGs. Hamhuis is second among Admiral's power play scorers with 20 points and ranks second among AHL defensemen with five PPGs.
