THIS WEEK'S OPPONENTS...

The Manitoba Moose (Vancouver) are currently 3rd in the North Division with 6 points and have a 3-3-0-0 record... This will be the first of eight meetings this season between the Canadian rivals. The all-time series is tied 11-11-2... The Moose are currently on a 3-game losing streak and are coming off a 5-4 loss against the Edmonton Roadrunners... Corner Brook native Jason King leads the team with 11 points (9G,2A) in six games. Center Peter Sarno has two goals and eight assists... Goaltender Wade Flaherty has a 2-2-0 record, a 3.03 Avg. and a .901 save percentage in four games... Manitoba is ranked 8th with the man advantage scoring seven times in 36 attempts while they are 12th overall while playing shorthanded with an 86.5% success rate... The Maple Leafs visit Manitoba for their opening of the brand new 15,000 seat MTS Centre in the heart of Winnipeg on November 17th.

The Cleveland Barons (San Jose) are 3rd in the North Division with six points and have a 2-1-1-1 record... The Barons are coming off their second win of the season and two in a row with a 4-1 win over the Houston Aeros... Cleveland's Marcel Goc has eight points including five goals in five games this season... The Barons are ranked 11th in the league while on the powerplay at 16.7% (5/30) and are ranked 23rd in the AHL while playing shorthanded allowing six goals in 31 opportunities... This will be the first of eight games against the Barons this season for the Maple Leafs. Cleveland returns in mid March for two final matches.

Matt Stajan: Stajan scored two goals in 4-1 win against Syracuse on Saturday Night.

Mikael Tellqvist: Tellqvist was selected the Maple Leafs Player of the Week after posting a 1-0-0-1 record, a 1.44 Avg. and a .961 save % in two starts.

David Ling: Ling had a three-game goal scoring streak snapped last game. Ling leads the team with 4 points in five games.

Nathan Perrott: Perrott has three points (2g,A) in five games this season. Perrott leads the team with 23 PIMs.

Jeremy Williams: Rookie Jeremy Williams scored his first pro goal and added an assist in a 4-1 win over the Syarcuse Crunch last Saturday.

The Edmonton Roadrunners (Edmonton) roll into town for the first time next Friday and Saturday, November 5th & 6th. Both games will be live on Rogers Sportsnet at 7:35pm (NT). Fans can also listen to the game on Radio NL (930AM) or www.sjmapleleafs.ca.

MAPLE LEAFS PLAYER OF THE WEEK...

The St. John's Maple Leafs nominated goaltender Mikael Tellqvist for the CCM / AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, October 24th. Last week, Tellqvist appeared in two games against the Syracuse Crunch and posted a 1-0-0-1 record, a 1.44 avg. and a .961 save percentage. Mikael Tellqvist also stopped 74 of 77 shots faced to receive a 2nd star honor October 21st and a 1st star award October 23rd. Tellqvist also recorded the Maple Leafs first win of the season. This is Tellqvist's first nomination as CCM AHL Player of the Week for 2004-05.
