October 25, 2004 - American Hockey League (AHL) News Release
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... The American Hockey League announced today that Albany River Rats right wing Aaron Voros has been named the CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending October 24, 2004. Voros tallied four goals and three assists for seven points in four games as Albany raced to the top of the East Division standings.
Voros, a 23-year-old rookie, began the week with a goal in Albany's 3-2 overtime loss at Bridgeport on Wednesday. Two nights later, he scored one power-play goal and assisted on two others as the River Rats earned a split of the home-and-home series with a 5-1 win over the Sound Tigers. Saturday, Voros scored the winning goal and added another assist in a 5-1 decision over Providence, and Sunday, he capped a furious third-period comeback with the final goal in a 5-2 win at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
In recognition of his achievement, Voros will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming River Rats home game.
A native of Vancouver, B.C., Voros was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in 2001 and made his professional debut with Albany late last year after three seasons at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
