Reich Takes Over Penalty Minute Lead

REICH TAKES LEAD FROM BADDUKE: Left wing Jeremy Reich took over the franchise lead in penalty minutes on Saturday night, recording 11 minutes to raise his career total to 656, surpassing John Badduke's mark of 649. A native of Craik, Saskatchewan, Reich has appeared in four games with the Crunch this season, recording one goal, one assist and 25 penalty minutes. In 269 career AHL games, all with Syracuse, Reich has 44 goals, 67 assists and 656 penalty minutes. In nine career NHL games with Columbus, Reich has one assist and 20 penalty minutes. Originally drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks with their third choice, 39th overall, in the 1997 Entry Draft, Reich was signed as a free agent by Columbus on May 17, 2000 and signed an AHL contract with Syracuse on September 15, 2004.

CRUNCH WIN FIRST SHOOTOUT: Syracuse participated in a shootout for the first-time in franchise history on Thursday night at St. John's, defeating the Maple Leafs 2-1 in the shootout to lift them to a 3-2 victory. Shooting for Syracuse, in order, was Alexander Svitov, Mark Hartigan, Matthias Trattnig, Brad Moran and Joe Motzko with Hartigan and Trattnig tallying goals. Harold Druken, David Ling, Jeremy Williams, Kyle Wellwood and Matt Stajan were selected to shoot for the Maple Leafs. Ling was the lone goal scorer in the shootout for St. John's. Crunch goaltender Pascal Leclaire was in net for the Crunch, turning aside four of the five Maple Leafs shots.

MAULDIN NETS FIRST: Rookie center Greg Mauldin netted his first professional goal on Thursday night at St. John's, in his first game of the 2004-05 season. A native of Holliston, Massachusetts, Mauldin has appeared in four career AHL games with the Crunch (two during the 2003-04) season and six career NHL games with Columbus. Drafted by Columbus with their 10th pick, 199th overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Mauldin played three season for the University of Massachusetts (HE) before turning pro.

BACK IN THE SWING OF THINGS: Syracuse will begin a stretch of six-games in eight-nights this Wednesday (October 27) night when they travel to Wilkes-Barre for a 7:05 p.m. match-up against the Penguins. The Crunch return home for games on Friday, October 29 (Hershey) and Saturday, October 30 (Hamilton) before returning to the road for games Sunday.

WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON (PITTSBURGH PENGUINS): The Crunch travels to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Wednesday, October 27 for the first of eight regular season meetings. Center Shane Endicott leads all Penguins players with six points (4g, 2a) in six games. Marc-Andre Fluery has appeared in four games for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton posting a 1-3-0 record, a 4.12 goals against average and .868 save percentage. Lifetime Syracuse is 24-16-6 against the Penguins.

HERSHEY (COLORADO AVALANCHE): The Crunch hosts Hershey on Friday, October 29 for the first of four regular season meetings. Former Crunch player Mathieu Darche leads all Bears players with three points (1g, 2a) in four games. Peter Budaj (0-2-0, 3.01 gaa, and .919 spct) and Tom Lawson (0-2-0, 3.02 gaa, and .919 spct) have split time between the pipes for the Bears. Lifetime Syracuse is 22-31-11 against Hershey.

HAMILTON (MONTREAL CANADIENS): Hamilton visits Syracuse on Saturday, October 30 for the first of six regular season meetings. Center Corey Locke leads all Hamilton players with five points (2g, 3a) in five games. Yann Danis has appeared in four games for the Bulldogs posting a 3-1-0 record, a 1.73 goals against average and .939 save percentage. Lifetime Syracuse is 22-25-11 against Bulldogs.

ROCHESTER (BUFFALO SABRES): The Crunch travels to Rochester on Sunday, October 31 for the first of 12 regular season meetings. Left wing Jason Botterill leads all Amerks in scoring with six points (4g, 2a) in four games. Ryan Miller has appeared in three games posting a 0-3-0 record, a 5.64 goals against average and .833 save percentage. Lifetime Syracuse is 42-57-13 against Rochester.

Saturday, October 30

Crunch To Handout Halloween Bags at Saturday, October 30 Game: The Syracuse Crunch, along with Syracuse Crunch Booster Club and Nestle, announced that Halloween bags will be handed out to kids at the Saturday, October 30 game against Hamilton. On Saturday, October 30 the first 1,500 kids, 12 and under, will receive a Halloween bag and a Nestle candy bar, compliments of the Syracuse Crunch Booster Club and Nestle.
