
The Kingfish Come Alive in the Eighth to Win 7-4

Kenosha, WI - The Kenosha Kingfish (6-3) defeated the Madison Mallards (4-5) in a back-and-forth game 7-4ÃÂ Tuesday, June 8 at Historic Simmons Field.
Madison scored first with a two run second inning. The Kingfish quickly cut that lead in half with a run in the bottom of the third when McKay Barney (Washington)ÃÂ scored on a sacrifice fly from Cam Redding (St. Louis University).
The Kingfish tied the game at 3-3ÃÂ in the bottom of the sixth posting two runs on three singles and a Mallard error.
The game remained 3-3 until the eighth inning until the Mallards scored an unearned run against Kingfish reliever Hayden Fox (UW Whitewater).
The Kingfish responded with a big bottom of the inning, capitalizing on another Mallard error and producing four hits in the inning. Barney singled in the tying run and Kirk Liebert (Kentucky) knocked in the go-ahead run to put the Kingfish ahead 5-4. Justin Janas (University of Illinois) followed that up with a single of his own, which knocked in the final two insurance runs of the game.
Fox is credited with the win for the Kingfish, throwing three innings and giving up two runs. Ethan Peters (Loras) earned the save for Kenosha, appearing in the last game and retiring the Mallards in order. Kade Lancour (UW Whitewater) picked up the loss for Madison, pitching two innings and conceding four runs.
Liebert and and Barney both went 3-4 on the night with one and two RBIs respectively, Henry Kusiak (Missouri Southern) went 2-4 and crossed the plate himself twice and Janas went 2-3 with two RBIs.
Kenosha and Madison will play again tomorrow, June 9, at Historic Simmons Field at 6:05 p.m. CT.
