
Stingers Fall to Waterloo 4-2

Willmar, Minn. - The Stingers fall for only the third time this season, Wednesday night against Waterloo by a final of 4-2.
All four runs for Waterloo came in the fifth inning. Garrett McGowan lead off the frame with a solo home run to left center. Waterloo eventually got the bases loaded, and with two outs in the inning, Paul Steffensen shot a three-run double into the right center field gap to make it a 4-1 game.
Willmar got on the board in the board in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single by Jakob Newton. They added one more in the fifth on a hit by Tanner Tweedt, but that was all they could manufacture on the night.
Blaze Pontes threw a good game for Waterloo, going four innings and giving up one run. Cameron Repetti pitched the final five frames and earned the win.
Jack Zigan made his second start of the season, going four-and-two-thirds innings and gave up four runs, all earned.
Thursday night will be the final game of a four-game homestand for Willmar. The Stingers take on the MoonDogs, with first pitch from Bill Taunton Stadium at 7:05 p.m.
