Taylor's First-Inning Blast Stands Up in 3-2 Decision

Michael A. Taylor hit a three-run first inning home run and the Senators made those three runs stand up in a 3-2 win over the Erie SeaWolves Thursday night at FNB Field. Mario Sanchez went seven innings for the win and Andrew Istler pitched the final two frames to earn his first save with the Senators. The first three Sens all reached with hits then Erie retired the final 24 of 27 Senators to come to the plate. With the win, the Senators have won four straight games.

On Capitol Hill

Mario Sanchez started and pitched seven innings. He improves to 9-4 on the season with the win. He allowed five hits and two runs. One of the runs came on a home run and the other on a flyball lost in the night sky followed by a single.

Andrew Istler pitched the final two innings to earn his first save with the Sens. Erie put two runners on base in each inning and had the tying and winning runs in scoring position with one out in the ninth but Istler pitched out of the jam.

With the Gavel

Michael A. Taylor hit a three-run home run, his seventh with the Sens and his second in as many games.

Luis Garcia and Nick Banks both doubled.

Harrisburg had only six base runners, all hits. They didn't draw any walks from the Erie pitching staff.

Filibusters

- This is only regular season meeting between the teams at FNB Field.

- Erie began the day leading Bowie by 2 games.

- The Sens have gone back-to-back games without committing an error for the first time in over a week.
