Kalamazoo Wings News Release
KALAMAZOO, MI - The Kalamazoo Wings, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Vancouver Canucks, announced Wednesday that forward Justin Taylor returned to Kalamazoo from loan to the American Hockey League's Utica Comets.
In a separate transaction, Vancouver reassigned forward David Pope from Kalamazoo to Utica.
Taylor, 30, appeared in seven games for the Comets since he signed a professional tryout with the K-Wings' AHL affiliate Nov. 6. The Mindemoya, Ontario native had 6 points (3g, 3a) in six games before his call-up and set Kalamazoo's franchise record for games played (496) back on Oct. 26 at Wings Event Center.
Pope, 25, returned from and early-season injury and posted 2 points (1g, 1a) in four games for the K-Wings. The Canucks acquired the Edmonton, Alberta native in a trade with the Detroit Red Wings on Oct. 7 and reassigned him to Kalamazoo to start the season.
The K-Wings also announced the team released defenseman Zach Urban, who signed from the Southern Professional Hockey League's Macon Mayhem on Nov. 22 and scored one goal in five games.
Kalamazoo embarks on a five-game road trip with two games Friday and Saturday at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling at 7:05 p.m. Catch the action on 1660 AM, The Fan, in Kalamazoo or online on ECHL.TV.
