LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Tacoma Rainiers (34-24) dropped a 13-2 decision against the Las Vegas 51s (31-27) on Tuesday afternoon at Cashman Field, giving the 51s a 3-1 series victory.

Tacoma starting pitcher Adrian Sampson (6-4) surrendered seven runs on 11 hits in his shortest outing of the season, working just 4.1 innings. He issued no walks, struck out two, and allowed one home run.

Right fielder Mike Baxter (1x3) and catcher Mike Zunino (1x3) accounted for the Rainiers only two runs - Zunino on a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning and Baxter on a sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth.

Zunino's solo shot, his 13th of the year, gave Tacoma an early 1-0 lead in the fourth inning. However, Las Vegas would quickly answer with two runs in the bottom of the frame to grab a 2-1 lead.

The 51s piled on with six runs in the bottom of the fifth, one run in the bottom of the seventh, and four runs in the eighth to pull away from the Rainiers and create the final margin of 13-2.

Jonathan Aro, Joe Wieland, and Cody Martin worked 3.2 innings from the Rainiers bullpen and combined to allow six runs on eight hits while walking one and striking out four.

The Rainiers will enjoy an off day tomorrow before returning home to Cheney Stadium to kick off a four-game series against the Reno Aces on Thursday, June 9. Tacoma is scheduled to start right-hander Donn Roach (4-3, 4.60), while Reno is expected to hand the ball to righty Matt Buschmann (1-5, 6.57). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. PT.
