August 30, 2013 - American Association (AA)
Kansas City Monarchs News Release
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - For a third straight game, the T-Bones played catch up. And for a third straight night they fell short, as Gary SouthShore held on for a 5-2 win Friday night in the T-Bones 2013 home finale at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
After giving up two runs in the top of the first, the T-Bones tied the game at 2-2 in the fifth, when Steve Yoo led off the inning with a single and eventually scored on a sacrifice grounder by Luis Rivera against Gary starter Alain Quijano.
In the top of the sixth, though, former T-Bone Reid Fronk led off the inning with a single, stole second and then scored on a single by Brian Kolb. Fronk finished the night two for four with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Dustin Loggins started the game for Kansas City and gave up three runs and six hits in 5 2/3 innings. Loggins (7-6) struck out five and walked one.
Quijano, who threw a complete game, picked up his 12th win, which continues to give him the lead in the American Association.
The bottom four hitters in the Kansas City lineup had five of the T-Bones' six hits.
After finishing the home portion of its 2013 season Friday by losing three of four against the RailCats, Kansas City heads to Wichita for a final three-game series beginning Saturday night at 7:05.
