T-Bones Trade Garceau to Long Island

Kansas City Monarchs News Release
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Kansas City T-Bones announced that they have traded pitcher Shaun Garceau to the Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League for two players to be determined.
Garceau, 26, started Thursday night for the T-Bones and gave up nine hits and four runs, and struck out six without allowing a walk, in seven innings against Gary SouthShore. With the T-Bones this season, Garceau went 6-9 with a 4.30 ERA. In 23 games (133 2/3 innings), he struck out 93 and walked 33. His ERA dropped in his last eight starts - going back to July 20 at Amarillo - from 4.95 to 4.30.
Whereas the American Association regular season ends Monday, the Atlantic League's regular season runs until Sept. 15, and the Ducks are currently in a pennant race. Since he started Thursday night, Garceau was not scheduled to pitch again for the T-Bones in 2013.
"Shaun has been a great pitcher for us for the past two seasons," said T-Bones manager Kenny Hook. "I've had complete confidence that we'd be in position for a win each time he's started. But this gives Shaun a chance to continue pitching through September for a playoff contender, and it should help improve our roster for 2014."
Garceau started 16 games for Kansas City in 2012. He went 9-6 with a 3.47 ERA, 75 strikeouts and 27 walks in 106 1/3 innings. Garceau, who has pitched for York in the Atlantic League, reached double-A with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2010.
