St. Paul Saints News Release
ST. PAUL, MN - The St. Paul Saints will take to the field at home for the final time in 2013 this weekend. The Saints will personally make it a point to make sure that you enjoy your seat at Midway Stadium as a way to show our appreciation for the tremendous support you, the fans, have provided throughout the season. There is no better way to spend the last holiday of the summer than enjoying a relaxing day at the ballpark with great food and music.
The three-game season-ending series with Sioux City gets underway on Saturday, August 31 at 7:05 p.m. Just like many other professional sports franchises these days the Saints will dip into the personal seat licenses market. However, rather than forcing you to pay an exorbitant amount of money for an imaginary license that allows you to pay the regular price for a seat, the Saints will simply hand the first 1,000 fans through the front gate a special Saints seat license. Our version, a Minnesota license plate, with "SAINTS" prominent in the center, can be held onto as a souvenir of Midway Stadium. Unlike most other professional organizations that use these licenses to help pay for their new stadiums, the Saints new Lowertown Ballpark, set to open in 2015, will have no such strings attached. Also, it will be a St. Croix Casino Big Money $aturday, giving everyone in attendance a chance to walk away with $77,777.
The second game of the homestand takes place on Sunday, September 1 at 7:05 p.m. Although hard to quantify, the Saints will attempt to do their best to show everyone in attendance how thankful they are to have the best fans in the American Association on Fan Appreciation Night. How can we possibly show our appreciation in one night? A fireworks super-show should do the trick. Join us for the third and final such extravaganza of pyrotechnics after the game ends in celebration of Labor Day. There will also be a special performance by dancers from the band "Candy Shop" prior to the show. As always, it will be a Savers Family Sunday, where kids can come down onto the field and run the bases in addition to receiving autographs from the entire team.
The series and the 2013 season conclude at 1:05 p.m. on Monday, September 2 with our Labor Day Celebration. There will be three things at Midway Stadium that are crucial to any good celebration: beer, good food, and great music. There will be $1 beer available all game long on a Today's Country K102 Buck Beer Night. That will be followed by great baseball and then more festivities after the game. Minneapolis-based singer and songwriter Tim Mahoney will hold a free post-game concert for those who have purchased tickets to the game thanks to White Bear Mitsubishi and Volkswagen of Inver Grove. Mahoney, a former contestant on the popular television talent show, "The Voice," has been in the music business for over 15 years and sold over 100,000 units of his various musical releases, as both a solo artist and with his former band "The Blue Meenies". During the concert, food trucks from all over the Twin Cities will line the warning track and provide plenty of options for a post-game meal for those enjoying the music. The plethora of food trucks will include those from Motley Crews, Tiki Tim's, AZ Canteen, Marie Antoinette Crepes, R.A. MacSammy's, and Messy Giuseppe.
During these final three games the Saints plan to show their appreciation by handing out personal seat licenses that aren't a blow to your wallet, shooting off an incredible array of fireworks, hosting a post-game concert, and giving you more tasty food options than the mind can even comprehend. The 2013 season may be close to wrapping up, but it's clearly not quite time to close the book on the good times at Midway Stadium.
