Spokane Chiefs News Release
Spokane, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs failed to find the back of the net on Friday night against the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds, losing 7-0. Spokane will look to bounce back Saturday against the rival Tri-City Americans on Military Appreciation Night at Spokane Arena.
Conner Roulette started the scoring for Seattle, finding the twine for his 15th of the season at 9:37 of the first period.
They added to their lead with two minutes left in the opening frame as team-leading scorer Jared Davidson scored off assists from Lucas Ciona and Lukas Svejkovsky.
Seattle picked up two more quick goals at 3:53 (Henrik Rybinski) and 5:57 (Davidson; power play) of the middle frame to extend the Spokane deficit to four goals.
From there, the game tightened up with no further scoring until seven minutes into the third, when Davidson completed his first career WHL hat trick with his second power play goal of the night.
Davidson added a fourth at 14:44 and Ciona picked up his ninth of the season at 19:23 to cap the scoring, with each coming on the man advantage.
Manny Panghli started in goal for the Chiefs and finished 22-for-29. Scott Ratzlaff earned the shutout with 19 saves for Seattle. Spokane finished 0-for-5 on the power play and 1-for-5 on the penalty kill. The loss marked seven in a row for Spokane.
