Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release

EVEN STEVEN: The RailRiders dropped the Pawtucket Red Sox, 5-1, to take the three-game series on Wednesday afternoon at PNC Field. With the win, SWB grabbed sole possession of second place in the IL North.

WINNER, WINNER: Starter Bryan Mitchell (4-4) has won consecutive starts for the first time since he claimed four straight with SWB from July 22-Aug. 15, 2014. He overcame a career-high seven walks to fire six innings of scoreless two-hit baseball on 105 pitches (52 strikes). Over his last four starts, Mitchell has logged a 1.08 ERA while giving up just 14 hits in 25 innings (.167 BAA). His cumulative 2.86 ERA ranks 7th in the IL. He owns a 1.59 ERA and .193 BAA in eight home starts.

OH DANNY BOY: Danny Burawa allowed just one hit over the game's final three frames for his first save since an Aug. 23, 2014 effort at Harrisburg while with Double-A Trenton. He boasts a 1.88 ERA in 21G/1GS. In 28.2 innings he has allowed just 16 hits (.162 BAA) and has amassed a 2.1:1 groundout-to-airout ratio.

SAVING PRIVATE RYAN: Brendan Ryan went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts at the plate and helped turn two double plays in the field yesterday. He went 1-for-7 on his two-game rehab stint with SWB, hit second in each game and played third and second base. He is expected to join Double-A Trenton to continue this rehab.

RISPY BUSINESS: The PawSox went 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position yesterday and went 1-for-23 (.043) in such circumstances on the series.

PAWTUCKET POP: All eight Pawtucket runs on the series came via the home run. The PawSox pace the league with 41 home runs. The IL's mean average is 28.

BOUNCING BACK: The RailRiders snapped a four-game slide in rubber matches. After besting the IronPigs in their first on May 22. SWB lost rubber matches versus Gwinnett May 7, at Norfolk May 13, versus Charlotte May 20 and Sunday's finale against the Norfolk Tides.

ROAD WARRIORS: The RailRiders have won seven straight games away from PNC Field going back to their four-game sweep of Durham from May 14-17. The team enjoys its longest road winning streak since it claimed eight straight away from Moosic on a single road trip thanks to sweeps of Charlotte and Gwinnett from April 29-May 5, 2013.

ARE YOU TOO GOOD FOR YOUR HOME?: The RailRiders stand five games below .500 at PNC Field (14-19) and seven games over on the road (14-7). The team has hit .284 on the road compared to a .246 mark at home. On the road, SWB has scored 105 runs in 21 games (5.0/game). At home, the squad has plated 111 runs in 33 games (3.4/game). The pitching has performed better at home (3.39 ERA) than outside of Moosic (3.88). No IL team has a better road winning percentage than the RailRiders (.667) and no IL squad has more home losses than SWB (19). In fact, only two teams in all of full-season MiLB (120 teams) have more home losses than the RailRiders. The Milwaukee Brewers' Low-A affiliate, the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, have struggled to the tune of an 8-22 record at Fox Cities Stadium. The Low-A Rome Braves are 10-20 at State Mutual Stadium.

OFF THE RAILS: The RailRiders have allowed a homer in a season-worst three straight games...Burawa became the sixth 2015 RailRider to post a save...Only two IL teams, Durham and Indianapolis with 20 each, have more saves than SWB's 18...Yesterday's rubber match gave SWB its first home series win in nearly a month since it took two of three against Indy from May 8-10...Jonathan Galvez went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored...He entered the game in an 0-for-23 funk and had not notched a hit since May 17.
