FRISCO, TX - The Texas Legends (17-14) grabbed a wire-to-wire victory over the Northern Arizona Suns (8-23) 116-96 Friday night in Frisco.
The Legends took the first lead and went up 7-0 before the Suns got on the board. Facing a 14-point deficit heading into the second, the Suns used a 15-point performance from David Kramer to pull within eight midway through, but Texas responded with 13 straight to finish the half strong and go into the locker room up 65-50.
Texas maintained a double-digit lead through the entire second half, going up by as many as 32 in the fourth. The Legends finished the night shooting 47% and 40% outside while the Suns knocked down 38% from the field and 30% beyond the arc. Texas' advantage came on the boards as they dominated 61-39.
Cameron Payne led the Legends' scoring efforts with 21 points while adding a team-high 6 assists. Moses Brown came off the bench for the game's only double-double of 20 points, 11 rebounds, and a season-high 4 blocks. Yudai Baba tied his season-high set earlier this week with 19 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals, while knocking down a new season-high 5-of-6 from outside. Jaylen Hoard and Dakota Mathias tallied 11 points each with Hoard contributing 5 rebounds, 3 assists while Mathias added 4 rebounds, 6 assists.
Ike Nwamu had a game-high 22 points for the Suns while David Kramer finished with a career-high 21 points and 4 rebounds. Jared Harper contributed 14 points, 3 assists, and Jalen Lecque rounded out Northern Arizona's double-digit scorers with 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. Tariq Owens grabbed 6 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 blocks.
