
Suns Refuse to Lose in Series Opener against BlueClaws

HAGERSTOWN. MD - The Hagerstown Suns (24-12) took on the Lakewood BlueClaws (15-21) in game one of their three game series in South Atlantic League North play at Municipal Stadium on Monday Night.
Its not often that the Suns find themselves with a hill to climb early in the game. The Suns were down 9-4 in the fourth inning and mounted their biggest comeback of the season.
The starter for the Suns, Andrew Lee, only threw 2.2 innings. In those 2.2 innings he gave up eight hits, eight earned runs, 4 walks, struck out 5 and gave up a home run. The Bullpens for both teams where who set the tone for the ret of the game.
Matt Crownover came in to relieve Lee in the top of the 3rd inning. Crownover (4-1), who was credited with the win in his 4.1 innings, gave up only three hits and one earned run. Jorge Pantoja came out of the bull pen to take over for Crownover in the 8th inning. Pantoja, who was credited with the save tonight, gave up only 3 hit and struck out 3.
In the fourth inning, with the score at 9-4 Lakewood, Edwin Lora came up to the plate with Jakson Reetz on base and knocked his second home run of the season off of Jose Taveres to bring the deficit to only three.
Alejandro Arteaga came out of the bullpen for Lakewood. Reetz started things off with a one out single. Lora then moved him around to third after his double. Ian Sagdal followed Lora and grounded into a fielders choice to score Reetz. Victor Robles then brought the two runs still out on the bases home off of his single to center.
The winning run came off of Lakewood pitcher Jacob Waguespck. Matt Page reached base on a walk.
Then Ryan Ripken got his first hit of the night and moved Page to second. Rhett Wiseman scored both Page and Ripken with a single to right field.
The Lakewood pitching staff gave up a combined six runs in the sixth and seventh innings. Jakson Reetz fully broke out of his minor slide with a 3-for-3 night including a home run and two RBIs. The Suns send out RHP Pedro Avila (1-2, 4.05) to face Lakewood's LHP Tyler Gilbert (1-3, 4.96) in game two of the four game series at Municipal Stadium on Tuesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm.
