Greenville Drive News Release

Greenville, SC - The outstanding offensive week of Greenville Drive infielder Mitchell Gunsolus was rewarded on Monday, as he was named the South Atlantic League Player of the Week for the week of May 9-15.

In six games during the week, Gunsolus smacked a pair of grand slams and collected 10 hits in 27 at-bats, good for a .370 batting average. He also recorded a .433 on-base percentage and a .704 slugging percentage with three doubles, nine RBI and six runs.

Guerra becomes the first Drive player to earn South Atlantic League weekly honors during 2016. The last Drive player to earn South Atlantic League Player of the Week was Javier Guerra, who received the honor for the week of July 6-12, 2015.

Gunsolus, a native of Kenmore, Washington, recorded at least one hit in all six games last week. His first grand slam of the week came at Fluor Field against Columbia on Tuesday, and his second came on Sunday in Augusta, which helped spark a major comeback victory for the Drive.

Through Monday, Gunsolus is hitting .342 through 20 games with the Drive in 2016. He ranks third on the roster in average, and his five homers also ranks third on the team. He has driven in 19 runs, scored 14 more and posted a .409 on-base percentage for the season.

The Drive return to Fluor Field tonight at 7:05 to face off against the Charleston RiverDogs, affiliate of the New York Yankees. For more information and to purchase tickets, go to the Main Street Box Office, call (864) 240-4528 or log on to GreenvilleDrive.com.
