Lexington Legends News Release

A sacrifice fly by Jakson Reetz in the bottom of the fifth inning broke a 1-1 tie, and the Hagerstown Suns went on to a 2-1 win over the Lexington Legends Thursday night in Hagerstown.

Edwin Lora's solo homer in the bottom of the second gave the Suns a 1-0 lead, but the Legends evened the score on a leadoff homer in the fifth by Michael Hill, who has seven hits in 11 at bats against Hagerstown this season.

Kelvin Gutierrez led off the bottom of the fifth with a single and then stole second base. He moved to third on a ground out by Rhett Wiseman and came home when Reetz flied out to center field.

Both teams missed opportunities to score. The Suns left 12 men on base and were 1-for-14 with runners in scoring position. The Legends were 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position and stranded eight runners.

Pedro Avila (5-3) worked the first five innings and got the win. He allowed five hits and one run.

Yunior Marte (3-3), who relieved Legends starter Gerson Garabito after three innings, was the losing pitcher. He pitched four and one-third innings and allowed three hits and one run.

The loss was the sixth in a row for the Legends.

Game two of the four-game series will be played Friday night. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
