Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - Johnathan Frebis worked 6.0 strong inning, but the Intimidators offense came up empty-handed in a 1-0 loss to Hickory on Thursday at Intimidators Stadium supported by Carolinas HealthCare System. Kannapolis (23-37) suffered its third shutout loss of the season and first since May 29 when they fell at home to Asheville, 5-0.
Hickory's Dillon Tate faced the minimum through the first four innings, inducing a pair of double plays to eliminate the base runners. He worked 6.0 scoreless innings, working around three hits and three walks while striking out three. Tate (2-2) earned the win while Omarlin Lopez and John Werner closed out the Intimidators over the final three frames with Werner earning the save (4).
Frebis (4-4) gave up one run on three hits while allowing a walk and striking out two in a hard-luck loss. Alex Katz and Yelmison Peralta were perfect over the final three innings out of the Intimidators bullpen.
The Crawdads plated the game's only run in the second inning. Tyler Sanchez drew a leadoff walk, and two batters later, Josh Altmann doubled to centerfield, scoring Sanchez from first.
Kannapolis out-hit Hickory, 4-3, but the Intimidators stranded seven on base over the course of the game. Thursday night's contest lasted 2:17.
