HAGERSTOWN, Md. - The Hagerstown Suns (38-22) defeated the Lexington Legends (22- 37) 2-1 on Thursday night at Municipal Stadium.
Edwin Lora put Hagerstown on the scoreboard in the second inning with a solo home run over the left field fence.
Michael Hill homered in the top of the fifth inning to tie the game 1-1, but Hagerstown scored in the bottom of the fifth inning on a sacrifice-fly by Jakson Reetz to go back on top and win, 2-1.
Lexington out-hit Hagerstown 8-7 and Hagerstown left seven runners in scoring position.
Winning pitcher, Pedro Avila, allowed one earned run through five innings and Mick VanVossen gathered his fifth save.
Lexington's Julio Pinto (1-2, 9.43) will face Hagerstown's Jefry Rodriguez (5-2, 2.67) in the second game of the series on Friday at Municipal Stadium.
