Greenville Drive News Release

Greenville, SC - Thursday's game between the Greenville Drive and Augusta GreenJackets was deadlocked for much of the way, but it turned around in a hurry as the GreenJackets piled on runs late to come away with an 8-2 win at Fluor Field.

The Drive (30-29) received six outstanding innings from starter Dedgar Jimenez (1-1), but he tired in the seventh and the GreenJackets (31-28) took advantage. The first three batters in the inning reached on hits, and the third was a two-run double by T.J. Bennett to make the score 4-2. A wild pitch later in the inning tacked on another run.

Augusta struck for three more runs in the eighth off Kuehl McEachern. Dylan Davis smacked a one-out solo homer, his second long ball of the night, in the frame, and Junior Arias added a two-run double in the frame.

Michael Connolly (3-2) came away with the win for the GreenJackets after allowing two runs on eight hits over seven innings, and he struck out five.

Greenville scored the first two runs of the night, receiving a sacrifice fly from Josh Ockimey in the first inning and another from Kyri Washington in the third.

Davis tied the game for Augusta in the fourth with a two-run blast to left field off Jimenez.

Tate Matheny led the Greenville offense with three hits in the game, and Chad De La Guerra added two hits and scored twice.

The series continues on Friday night at Fluor Field at 7:05 PM. The Drive will send left-hander Logan Boyd (5-4, 5.23) to the mound, while the GreenJackets will start right-hander Matt Solter (1-0, 1.80), a former Furman Paladin.
