
Suns back in first place after 6-3 win over the Power

Hagerstown, MD - The Hagerstown Suns fought off the West Virginia Power on Saturday night at Municipal Stadium in Hagerstown, Maryland with a 6-3 victory. The Suns victory, combined with the Lexington loss, put the Suns in a first place tie with Lexington going into tomorrow afternoon's contest, which marks the final game of the first half.
Jesus Flores hit a solo shot in the bottom of the second inning to give Hagerstown a 1-0 lead. Will Lewis tied the game in the top of the third with a Sac Fly RBI, and Hernan Iribarren provided the Power with a 2-1 lead later in the inning when he scored on an errant throw from catcher Jesus Flores. The Suns tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning on an RBI single from Carlos Gomez. Two batters later, Grant Psomas gave the Suns the lead on a two run double. Hernan Iribarren recorded his ninth hit of the series on an RBI single in the top of the seventh inning to make it a 4-3 game. In the bottom of the seventh inning Wilson Batista and Dante Brinkley provided RBI singles to give the Suns a 6-3 lead. The game ended with the tying run at the plate in Will Lewis, who lined out to third base.
Mike Devaney (4-1) earned the victory, Marcelo Perez (6) earned the save and Mark Rogers (0-5) obtained the loss. The Power fall to 25-44 with the loss and the Suns improve to 41-28 with the win.
The Power will conclude the four game series against the Hagerstown Suns, in Hagerstown on Sunday afternoon. Left-handed pitcher Greg Kloosterman (3-9, 4.46) will throw for the Power and the Suns will counter with right-handed pitcher Gabriel Hernandez (4-1, 2.62). The first pitch will be delivered at 1:35 PM.
