Hagerstown Suns News Release

Hagerstown, MD - In a must win game on Saturday night, the Hagerstown Suns did just that, they won. The Suns got a great pitching performance from Mike Devaney to lead them to a 6-3 victory. With a win on Father's Day, the Suns will at least tie for the first half title in the Northern Division.

Jesus Flores hit his fourth homerun of the season to get the scoring going in the second. In the fifth, Grant Psomas came through with a huge two run double to put the Suns in front to stay, 4-2. The Suns (41-28) added two insurance runs in the seventh on RBI singles by Wilson Batista and Dante Brinkley.

Mike Devaney (4-1) pitched six innings to get the win. It was Devaney's longest outing of the year, and he just gave up two unearned runs on five hits during that time. Marcelo Perez pitched the final three innings and earned his sixth save of the season while allowing just one run during his appearance. The West Virginia Power fell to 25-44 with the loss.

If the Suns win on Sunday they will share the first half title with Lexington if they win at Lake County. If the Suns win and Lake County wins, then the Suns are the outright champs. The Suns can still earn a share of the first half title if they lose, but Lake County would have to win to make that occur. Then there would be a three way tie for first, and a playoff would result to find the winner.

Sunday at 1:35pm on NBC 25 & Susquehana Bank Cap giveaway day, the Suns go for the first half title with their staff ace, RHP Gaby Hernandez (4-1) against West Virginia's LHP Greg Kloosterman (3-9). It's also Herald-Mail Family Day and Father's and kids can throw on the field after the game for Father's Day, after the kids run the bases brought to you by Antietam Cable.
