Hagerstown Suns News Release
Jose Sanchez returned to his winning ways, breaking a 2-game mini losing slump as the Suns turned the Power away 3-2.
Sanchez struck out a season high 8, despite allowing 9 hits. The Power amassed 13 runs for the second straight night, but didn't get nearly the run production from last night, scoring just 2 runs and stranding 9 baserunners.
Carlos Gomez, the offensive catalyst for Hagerstown on Thursday, picked up 2 more hits including a solo homerun to tie the game at 3. In doing so, he has extended his current hit streak to 10 games.
Mike Carp crushed a 2-run homer in the 4th to put the Suns ahead for good.
Bo Bowman and Carlos Muniz combined to throw 3 scoreless innings to preserve the narrow victory.
With the win, the Suns await the outcome of Lexington and Lake County's game to determine their position in the standings with just 2 games left in the first half. The Suns went into Friday night just 1 game out of first place.
Saturday night's game against West Virginia is at 7:05 and the first 1,000 fans will recieve 25th anniversary commemorative baseball caps courtesy of First Data. Call the Suns offices at 301-791-6266 for tickets.
