
Power leave nine on base in 3-2 loss to Hagerstown

Hagerstown, MD (JUNE 17, 2005) - The West Virginia Power recorded 13 hits on Friday night but only plated two runs against the playoff hungry Hagerstown Suns who went on to beat the Power by the final score of 3-2.
Hernan Iribarren knocked in the first run of the game with an RBI single in the top of the third inning to give the Power a 1-0 lead. Carlos Gomez tied the game in the bottom of the third inning on a solo shot, his fifth homerun of the season. Mike Carp put the Suns on top 3-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning when he hit a two run shot, which was his 16th of the season. The Power made it a one run game in the top of the sixth inning when Josh Brady knocked in Carlos Corporan on an RBI single to make it a 3-2 ball game. In the top of the ninth inning, the Power had the tying run on second base when Hernan Iribarren, who had three hits in the game, grounded out to second base to end the game.
Jose Sanchez (10-2) earned the victory, Carlos Muniz (13) earned the save and Josh Baker (1-4) obtained the loss. The Power fall to 25-43 with the loss and the Suns improve to 40-28 with the win.
The Power will continue the four game series against the Hagerstown Suns, in Hagerstown on Saturday night. Right-handed pitcher Mark Rogers (0-4, 4.11) will throw for the Power and the Suns will counter with right-handed pitcher Michael Devaney (3-1, 3.76). The first pitch will be delivered at 7:05 PM.
