Arizona Sundogs News Release


The Arizona Sundogs (15-26-5) dropped three straight against the Northern Conference-leading Rapid City Rush at Tim's Toyota Center last week by a combined three goals, falling twice in regulation and once in overtime. The Sundogs sit 10 points back of the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees and the Southern Conference's fifth and final playoff spot.

Arizona opens a three-game road trip against the Colorado Eagles on Friday, then travels to Kansas to face the Wichita Thunder on Saturday before closing out a three-in-three set against the Amarillo Gorillas Sunday afternoon.

Sundogs Storylines:

- The Arizona Sundogs are just 797 fans away from half-a-million and will welcome their 500,000th fan on Tuesday, Feb. 16 as the team hosts the Odessa Jackalopes. The Sundogs have welcomed 499,203 fans through the doors of Tim's Toyota Center since their inaugural season in 2006-07. The 500,000th fan will receive a prize pack worth nearly $6,000 courtesy of Best Buy, SanFelipeVacations.com, Verizon Wireless, Great Lakes Airlines and the Arizona Sundogs. - Marc Belanger has 18 points (7g/11a) in 12 games with Arizona and is currently riding a ten-game point streak, having notched 17 points (7g/10a) in that span. The second-year forward has been held scoreless just once while skating for the Sundogs. Belanger netted just 15 points (9g/6a) in 31 games with Wichita to start the season.

- Kyle Hood has eight points (1g/7a) in his last seven games and currently owns a five-game scoring streak (1g/6a). The 5-foot-11, 190-pound forward has registered career-highs in goals (10), assists (25) and points (35) this season.

- The Sundogs have played in seven straight one-goal games dating back to a 5-4 loss to the Odessa Jackalopes on January 23. In those seven games the Sundogs have collected a 2-4-1 record and have gathered five of a possible 14 points.

- Arizona has played in 23 one-goal games this season - third most in the league - and is 6-12-5 in those games, dropping a league-leading 17 contests by one goal.

- The Sundogs are.500 away from home (10-10-3) but just 5-16-2 at Tim's Toyota Center.

- Kevin Gardner has five assists in his last seven games and ranks tied-for-second on the team in scoring with 39 points (14g/25a).

- After a ten-game goal scoring drought, Linus Fagemo has picked up five goals in his last five games. The Trollhattan, Sweden, native ranks tied-for-second on the team in goals with 16.
