Oakley Central Hockey League Player/Goaltender Of The Week Announced
February 8, 2010 - Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release
(Tempe, Arizona) - The Central Hockey League announced today that the recipients for the Oakley Central Hockey League Player and Goaltender of the Week for the period ending February 7, 2010 are forward Mike Ramsay of the Odessa Jackalopes and goaltender Scott Campbell of the Wichita Thunder.
Ramsay scored seven goals in the three games he played last week and totaled eight points (7-1=8). The Newmarket, Ontario native took part in nearly half of Odessa's goals on the week (eight of 17), helping them to average close to six goals a game. All of Ramsay's seven goals came on the power play putting him in the lead of Odessa's league-best power play with 14 man advantage goals (tops in the CHL). The 5-8, 185-pound forward now sits second in the league in goals scored with 26. The highlight of Ramsay's week was his second hat trick of the season in the Jacks to a 9-4 victory over the Colorado Eagles on February 6. All three of Ramsay's goals were scored in a 4:10 stretch of the first period.
Campbell helped spark the longest win streak of the season for the Wichita Thunder winning each of his three starts this week. The rookie managed to stop 108 of 116 shots that he faced for a.931 save percentage, notching road wins against Mississippi, Bossier-Shreveport and Tulsa. The Bloomfield, Ontario native closed the door in overtime against the RiverKings where he saw the most action, stopping 39 of 43 shots. Campbell has won four straight road decisions allowing just nine goals during his win streak.
In recognition of their achievements both Ramsay and Campbell will receive a special gift from Oakley.
