Sunday Night Finale Not One to Remember

(Allentown, PA) - The Worcester Red Sox (23-25) got the best of the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (25-23) 10-2 on Sunday evening. Lehigh Valley cropped four out of the six games played this week against the WooSox. Brayan Bello (3-0) won his second straight decision against the 'Pigs.

Worcester scored five runs against Colton Eastman (0-5) in the top of the third inning to take a 5-0 lead. Jarren Duran hit an RBI triple that scored Yolmer Sanchez. Duran then scored on a wild pitch by Eastman. Two more runs scored in the inning on a force out and an RBI single from Ronaldo Hernandez.

Jorge Bonifacio hit a two-run double against Bello in the bottom of the fifth inning that cut Worcester's lead to 5-2.

Jakob Hernandez, Corey Oswalt, and Kyle Dohy each pitched scoreless appearances after Eastman was pulled from the game in the top of the third inning. IronPigs pitcher Jeff Singer did was unable to accomplish what Hernandez, Oswalt, and Dohy did in their appearances. He gave up four runs in the top of the seventh inning as Worcester took a 9-2 lead.

Rob Refsnyder and Christin Stewart hit back-to-back home runs. Ronaldo Hernandez followed with a two-run home run that scored Jeter Downs. Worcester scored a run against Joe Gatto in the top of the eighth inning that gave them a 10-2 lead.

The IronPigs begin a 12-game road trip on Tuesday. Their first stop is at PNC Field to begin a six-game series with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
