Worcester Red Sox News Release

ALLENTOWN, PA - Powered by a five-run third inning and three home runs in the seventh, the Worcester Red Sox won their third consecutive game and earned a series win over the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs with a 10-2 victory on Sunday night at Coca-Cola Park.

Red Sox top pitching prospect Brayan Bello went five innings and allowed two runs on five hits with four walks and six strikeouts. Lehigh Valley scored their two runs on a bases-loaded double from Jorge Bonifacio in the fifth inning, but the WooSox offense did more than enough to secure Bello's third win in as many Triple-A starts.

Worcester jumped out to an early lead with a five-run rally in the third inning. Yolmer Sanchez walked and Jarren Duran tripled him home before scoring on a wild pitch to make it 2-0. After a Connor Wong double and a Ryan Fitzgerald single put runners at the corners, Rob Refsnyder extended the lead to 3-0 with a run-scoring groundout. Following a Jeter Downs walk and stolen base, Ronaldo Hernandez drove in a pair with a single to left.

In the seventh, Refsnyder and Christin Stewart hit back-to-back homers for the second time in the series, and Hernandez hit a two-run blast after Downs was hit by a pitch. Stewart added an RBI single in the eighth to stretch the lead to 10-2.

Stewart finished with four hits including a home run, and Hernandez recorded a three-hit night with a long ball.

The WooSox return home to Polar Park for a six-game homestand against the Syracuse Mets from Tuesday - Sunday. Tickets are available now at WooSox.com.
