Bats Fall to Storm Chasers 11-1, Split Series 3-3

LOUISVILLE, KY. - Jose Barrero doubled and scored the lone Bats' run as Louisville (17-30) fell 11-1 to Omaha (24-23) in the final game of the series on Sunday night at Louisville Slugger Field.

The Storm Chasers struck first, scoring two in the opening frame courtesy of a two-run shot off the bat of Vinnie Pasquantino for a 2-0 lead.

Both offenses were quiet as the pitching dominated the next three innings. Omaha broke the game open in the top of the fifth inning, scoring five as they batted through the order to take a 7-0 lead.

Down 9-0 in the home half of the sixth, Jose Barrero hit a lead-off double to right-center field and later scored to cut into the Storm Chaser lead, 9-1.

Louisville threatened in the next inning, loading the bases with two outs, but couldn't scratch a run across.

With the loss, Louisville and Omaha split the week 3-3.

Up next, the Bats travel to Gwinnett as they take on the Stripers in a six-game series with game one set for Monday, May 30 with first pitch coming at 7:05 pm E.T. RHP Ben Lively (1-3, 4.54) will take the mound for the Bats, while RHP Bryce Elder (1-1, 6.95) will get the ball for the Stripers.
