Bakersfield Condors News Release
Bakersfield, Calif. â The Bakersfield Condors will play four games in five nights this week, with three of those dates at home. Wednesday night's game against Long Beach, Friday's game against San Diego and Saturday's match against Fresno all begin at 7:00pm.
On Wednesday, the Condors host Student ID Night, sponsored by WB-12, KISS 96.5 and Golden Empire Transit. All college, high school and junior high students may purchase a ticket for just $1 by providing a valid student ID at the box office. During the first intermission on Wednesday, there will be a Turkey Shoot competition, the participants of which have been selected during an on-air competition on KRAB. They will bowl turkeys into the net, with the top two winners participating in the Human Slingshot. The turkeys will be donated to the Bakersfield Homeless Shelter.
Friday's game features Cap Giveaway night as the Condors host the San Diego Gulls. The first 2,000 fans will receive a Condors cap, sponsored by Real Rock 93.1 and McDonald's. The Condors are 1-2 against the Gulls, with all three games being decided by just one goal.
The following night, on Saturday when the Condors take on Fresno, the Oakland Raiderettes will make their return to Centennial Garden. They will perform during the intermissions and sign autographs throughout the night. In addition, Saturday is a Condors Classroom Champions night, in which students with outstanding school attendance earned a complimentary ticket to the game, courtesy of CBS29 and McDonald's.
This week's games are also special "Readers of the Round Table" nights, for those participating in the Kern County Library summer reading program. Children received special vouchers for reading 10 books over the summer. The Condors sponsored the program, along with KGET-TV17. The Bakersfield Californian also presents Press Pass Discount Night for all three home games, giving subscribers a $2 discount on their tickets by presenting their Californian Press Pass.
On Sunday, the Condors will head south to Long Beach to take on the Ice Dogs at 5:00pm from the Long Beach Arena. The game can be heard on KGEO AM 1230 and live online at www.bakersfieldcondors.com. The "Condors Countdown" pregame show starts at 4:45pm.
The Condors will be talking hockey on KGEO this Thursday, with "The Condors Coach's Show", live from the Holiday Inn Select. Join Head Coach Paul Kelly and the "Voice of the Condors" Kevin Bartl every Thursday night for the live broadcast and enjoy drink specials, meet the players, and win great Condors prizes.
