GREENVILLE, S.C. – Mississippi center Louis Dumont moved into a tie for second all-time in ECHL career points and Andrei Lupandin had a goal and two assists to lead the Sea Wolves past the Greenville Grrrowl, 3-2, before 3,492 at the BI-LO Center.

"It wasn't pretty at times, but we got the job done," said Sea Wolves coach Bob Woods. "Lupandin was hungry to get back in the lineup and he had lots of jump. Dumont also had a special night and was key in the win."

Mississippi (7-4-4), playing its fourth road game in five days, opened the score at 16:19 of the first period. Jim Baxter, extended his point streak to seven games (4g-9a), by feeding a pass ahead for Louis Dumont, who moved in on the breakaway, and finished off the play by poking the puck through the legs of Scott Kabotoff for his seventh goal of the year.

Greenville (1-9-1) tied the game in the second period. On the breakaway, Scott Kirton beat Greg Gardner through the legs, for his first of the season at the 1:01 mark.

The Sea Wolves regained the lead on an odd-man rush. Dwayne Blais sent a pass from the right circle to Lupandin, who was activated off injured reserve earlier in the day, notched his first goal of the campaign at 2:17.

The Grrrowl rebounded later in the stanza, on the penalty kill. Brian Passmore busted in all alone, making his Greenville debut after being acquired yesterday from Cincinnati, tallied his first goal with the Grrrowl while short-handed.

From late in the second period to early in the third, Mississippi killed off a Greenville 5-on-3 power play. Moments later, Dumont spotted Brent Gauvreau, who deposited the eventual game-winner, his sixth of the year and extended his point streak to six games (4g-11a). The point for Dumont was his 685th career ECHL point, tying him with Darryl Noren for second all-time in league history and pulling him within three points from all-time scoring leader, Rod Taylor, and his 688 points.

Mississippi failed to score on six power play chances, while Greenville went 0-for-6 with the man advantage. The Grrrowl out shot the Sea Wolves, 30-22.

Earlier in the day, Sea Wolves' Steffon Walby was named the InGlasCo ECHL Player of the Week and was then placed on the 7-day injured reserve with an undisclosed injury. Center John Evangelista is attending his brother's wedding and also missed the game.

The Sea Wolves return home for a 4:05 p.m. game on Sunday against the Texas Wildcatters at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.
