Game Rewind The K-Wings were in action three times last week including a two-game series against the Elmira Jackals. The two game series started Friday night (11/14) in Elmira. The Jackals started the games scoring in the first period when Nathan Gilles scored his second goal of the season 5:06 into the game. The K-Wings answered back later in the first when Tim Turner (2) evened up the score on a power play goal with 1.5 seconds remaining in the period. The score remained tied for the remainder of the game, sending the contest into a shootout. In the extra session, Marty Flichel and Guy Dupuis both scored for the K-Wings, while Chad Alban stopped all 4 of the Jackals shooters to end the game with a final score of 2-1.
On Saturday (11/15) against Elmira, it was the Jackals that were looking for revenge after their 2-1 shootout loss the night before. Although the Jackals scored 3 goals in the first period, the K-Wings attempted a comeback, as Yannick Carpentier (5) put the K-Wings on the board with a power play goal in the second period to make the score 3-1. Elmira struck back with a goal 49 seconds later to conclude the game's scoring, as Elmira went on to defeat Kalamazoo by the score of 4-1.
Sunday, (11/16) the K-Wings traveled to Port Huron to take on the Beacons. After a scoreless first period, it was Kalamazoo that would take the lead as Yannick Carpentier scored his team leading sixth goal of the season on the power play 3:53 into the period. From there the night belonged to the Beacons, as Port Huron scored the games next four goals, including 3 from Brent Gretzky giving the Beacons a 4-1 victory over Kalamazoo.
Fast Forward After finishing a four game road swing, the K-Wings will continue rivalry month at Wings Stadium this Friday, November 21st, as they host their arch rivals the Fort Wayne Komets. This will be the third meeting between the teams this season, with the K-Wings holding the advantage over the Komets with a record of 2-0-0, including a 6-nothing shutout victory at Wings Stadium on November 1st. Fort Wayne enters the week in fifth place in the Western Conference with a record of 3-6-1 (7 points), while the K-Wings are in fourth place with a record of 5-4-0 (10 points). Fans are encouraged to arrive to the game early, as the first 1,000 people into Wings Stadium will receive a FREE mouse pad courtesy of NJB Office Products, WKMI, Business Direct Weekly, Fifth-Third Bank, and Centennial Wireless.
Kalamazoo will conclude the week on Saturday, November 22nd, as they travel to Rockford to battle the IceHogs. This will be the first of twelve meetings between the teams this season. Lifetime, the K-Wings hold the series lead with a record of 19-14-5. Rockford enters the week in third place in the Western Conference with a record of 5-4-1 (11 points).
The Brick Wall Chad Alban is second in the UHL in Goals Against Average with a GAA of 2.38. Alban is also first in the league in shutouts (2), and a perfect 2-0 in shootouts stopping 7 of 7 shooters he has faced.
How the West is Won The K-Wings are 4-1-0 against their own division. The K-Wings will try to improve upon that record when they play division foes Fort Wayne and Rockford this week.
Stingy Defense The K-Wings have given up a league best 24.22 shots game. Last season, the K-Wings averaged a league high 33.32 shots against them a game.
Sharing the Wealth The K-Wings, who have the top power play in the league for the third straight week at 26% have been spreading the wealth. So far this season 10 players have contributed to 14 power play goals. Of the 10 players, only Yannick Carpentier has scored more than one power play goal. Carpentier's 4 power play goals ties him for third in the UHL. Packing Them In K-Wings are third in the UHL in average attendance. The K-Wings have averaged 3,907 at Wings Stadium for their home games this year.

In the Community The K-Wings will be helping a Kalamazoo Public School learn about Canada tomorrow, as students from the district will be visiting Wings Stadium to watch a K-Wings practice and to discuss our neighbors to the north with some of the K-Wings Canadian born players.
Also for the second straight week the K-Wings will be visiting Toys R Us to sign autographs this Sunday (11/23), as employees of Bronson Hospital get to shop special and exclusive and after store hours as a reward Bronson being recognized recently in a national survey as one of the top 15 places for working mothers to work.
The Obscure Stat of the Week Daniel Carriere has scored 5 points this season (1 goal, 4 assists) and all 5 points have occurred on the K-Wings Power Play.
