Bombers Land O\'Leary from Everblades
November 18, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Dayton Bombers News Release
The Dayton Bombers have announced that they have acquired forward Jamie O'Leary from the Florida Everblades in exchange for a player to be named later.
O'Leary has made a return to the ECHL-America's Premier AA Hockey League, after spending last season with the Long Beach Ice Dogs of the West Coast Hockey League.
During the 2001-2002 campaign, O'Leary scored 22 goals and added 31 assists in 66 games played with the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies. The four-year product of Boston College has also played in the ECHL for Chesapeake (1998-1999), Jackson (1999-2000), and Wheeling (2000-2001). This season with the ECHL's Florida Everblades, O'Leary had two assists in twelve games played.
"Jamie is a veteran guy who brings some more leadership to our team," said Dayton Bombers' Head Coach Jamie Ling. "He's a player who has a lot of speed, talent, and grittiness. He is also a top penalty killer who should help our power play. As somebody who has played against him, the best description of him that I can give is that he is a very tough competitor. That's why we are glad to have him."
The Bombers' next home game is Sunday, November 23, versus the Roanoke Express at the Ervin J. Nutter Center (4:00 p.m.). At Turkey Toss day, the Bombers will be giving away a Thanksgiving turkey, courtesy of Cub Foods. The Bombers also will be giving recognition to the Ohio Army National Guard. At another Bucky's Flight Crew Sunday (presented by Office Depot), the Bombers will be having a "Skate With the Team" Session after the game.
On Wednesday, November 19, the Bombers' will kick off a three-game road swing with a game against the Cincinnati Cyclones at U.S. Bank Arena in downtown Cincinnati (7:30 p.m./7:15 p.m. broadcast time on WWSU-106.9 FM and www.daytonbombers.com- Media Center/Listen Live section- in association with www.broadcastmonsters.com). The Bombers are 1-2 against Cincinnati this season. The Bombers' lone win against the Cyclones came on November 1, a 5-2 triumph at the Ervin J.
