Storm Trades for Futures Finalized

(Toledo, Ohio) The Toledo Storm of the ECHL announced today the finalizing of three March deals, bringing Toledo five new players for the 2004-05 season. Toledo adds center Pierre-Luc Sleigher, forward Sam Paolini, and defenseman Kam White from Atlantic City; defensemen P.J. Martin and Jim Vickers come from Trenton and Louisiana respectively. Player bios and pronunciations follow this release.

Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel Nick Vitucci talked about the new faces "These players all address needs for this hockey club. Sleigher gives us grit and skill from the center position while Paolini brings in a viable scoring threat. All three defensemen will fit in nicely here with White adding toughness, Martin giving us a scorer from the defense, and Vickers is extremely solid in his own end."

Center Pierre-Luc Sleigher and forward Sam Paolini were future considerations as part of a trade with Atlantic City which occurred on March 5,2004. Sleigher had 15 goals, 38 assists, and 157 penalty minutes in his first pro season. He added 2 goals and an assist in the Bullies' 4 playoff games. In his 4 prior seasons with Victoriaville of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Pierre-Luc had over 200 penalty minutes in each year. Paolini will be heading into his second pro season after a 4-year career at Cornell University. Sam played in 63 games with the Bullies and the forward netted 46 points (18-28). Paolini appeared in 5 games at the American Hockey league level with Cleveland and Rochester.

Defenseman Kam White comes to Toledo with experience in the ECHL dating back to 1995. Kam, the son of former NHL player Bill White, is future considerations from the March 15th trade with Atlantic City. While appearing in 68 games for Atlantic City this past year, the 6 foot 4 defenseman collected 235 penalty minutes to go along with his 8 points. Since his start with South Carolina in 1995, White has played for eight different ECHL teams over the course of his pro career, and has been called up to the AHL seven different times.

P.J. Martin comes to Toledo from Trenton through the March 16th deal with the Columbia Inferno. As an offensive defenseman, P.J. put up 8 goals along with 15 assists for the Titans in his first pro campaign. Martin also played 7 games in the AHL with Manchester, Springfield, and Binghamton.

The third defenseman to come to Toledo is Jim Vickers from the Louisiana Icegators of the ECHL. Jim, who is the son of former New York Ranger Steve Vickers, is the future considerations from the final trade deadline deal on March 16th . Following a 4-year career at R.P.I. University, Jim latched on with the Jackson Bandits of the ECHL for 2 games. The following year it was off to Atlantic City and Baton Rouge. Vickers started last season with Charlotte before finishing the year with the Icegators. Over his career, Jim has 6 goals and 20 assists.

Toledo opens the 2004-05 campaign on October 22 at home against Wheeling. Season tickets are now on sale for the upcoming season.
