Louisiana IceGators News Release

Lafayette, LA – The Louisiana IceGators Head Coach and Vice President of Hockey Operations Dave Farrish today announced the completion of two trades from the 2003-04 regular season. To complete the acquisition of Paul Ballentyne, Louisiana has sent the rights to defenseman Jim Vickers to the Toledo Storm. To complete the trade for Matt Dzieduszcki, the Gators have dealt Center Jamie Johnson and Defenseman Rod Sarich to the Augusta Lynx.

"At the time we made these trades the team was looking for quality players to add depth for the playoffs and to make those deals these were the players asked for in return," said Farrish. "We were focused on trying to win a championship and made the moves to help us deal with the task at hand which was trying to win the Kelly Cup".

Jamie Johnson was the leading scorer among IceGators rookies. In 71 games, Johnson had 12 goals and 45 assists for 57 points. Johnson will always be remembered for his double overtime game-winning goal in game #5 of the Central Division semi-finals against Pensacola. Vickers appeared in 63 games scoring 2goals and 7 assists for 9 points, to go along with 144 PIMS. Sarich returned to the IceGators from Finland in December and played in 55 contests, tallying 5 goals and 25 assists for 30 points.

The Louisiana IceGators 10th anniversary season begins on October 22 with the home opener on November 5th. Season tickets, Flex plans and our IcePack vouchers are on sale now. More information is available by calling the IceGators office at (337) 234-4423.
