Condors Complete Deal with Stingrays

June 4, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. - In completion of a trade that took place on March 8th, the Bakersfield Condors professional hockey team of the ECHL have received the rights to RW Curtis Huppe from the South Carolina Stingrays. Huppe represents the future considerations received in exchange for winger Mike Barrie, and has not yet been signed.

Huppe, 25, has spent all four of his professional seasons in the ECHL and the last two seasons in South Carolina. He scored 27 goals last season with the Stingrays, and added two goals and six points in seven playoff games. South Carolina was eliminated by eventual Kelly Cup finalist Florida in the Eastern Conference Semi-finals.

The Winnipeg, Manitoba native played parts of five seasons in the Western Hockey League as a junior, and broke into the pro ranks in 1999-00, playing in 11 playoff games with the Muskegon Fury in the United Hockey League, where he recorded 3g-3a-6pts in 11 games. He then bolted to ECHL for his rookie season, splitting the year between Greenville and Greensboro. The 6'1", 200-pound winger has proven to be durable as well, missing just one game over the last two seasons and never playing less than 67 games in a season. He has scored at least 20 goals every year of his pro career.

Season tickets for the 2004-05 Bakersfield Condors season are on sale now by contacting the BSE offices at 324-PUCK (7825).

Condors Droppings: Huppe's career stats are listed below… The Condors submitted their End-of-Season Roster to the ECHL office today. The roster contained the same 15 players included on their protected list on Tuesday, with the addition of Huppe. The protected list can be found on www.bakersfieldcondors.com
