Stockton Beats Utah 3-2

Stockton, California - Stockton, California - The Stockton Thunder scored two third period power-play goals to beat the Utah Grizzlies 3-2 Friday night at Stockton Arena.

Stockton took a 1-0 lead 9:36 into the first period erasing a stretch of 14-straight Utah penalty kills. The Grizzlies responded on the next shift as David Vallorani hammered in a rebound for his second goal of the year to tie the contest at 10:33 of the first period. Tyler Hinds and Adam Pineault added assists. Utah made it 2-1 1:23 later as Berkley Scott scored on a second attempt with Pineault and Vallorani adding assists.

The 2-1 Utah lead lasted for 28 minutes and 51 seconds before Stockton scored 28 seconds into the third period on a power-play goal and again on the one-man advantage less than seven minutes later.

The Grizzlies had two power-plays going down the stretch, but were unable to tie. In the final minute, Utah had a few loose hacks in the crease, but time would ultimately expire.

Utah goaltender Ben Meisner stopped 28 of 31 shots, allowing only three power-play goals on his first start of the year.

The Grizzlies and Stockton complete their series Saturday at 8:30 p.m. from Stockton Arena.

The Grizzlies are back home Friday, November 8; Saturday, November 9 and Monday, November 11 for 7 p.m. face-offs with the Ontario Reign in a rematch of last year's first round playoff series.

Saturday is "Pooch on the Pond" where fans are encouraged to bring their dogs to the game for a $24 a person with their dog. After Saturday's game is a free post-game skate. Skate rental is $2.
