Orlando and Florida come together tonight for the second half of a home-and-home series that began in South Florida yesterday. The two teams traded goals in the first period, with the Everblades taking the lead on a goal just 1:42 into the contest. F Ian Slater evened it up midway through the first, but Florida struck for the only second period goal to lead 2-1 going into the final frame. F Tyler Murovich feathered a pass to F Andrew Johnston through the neutral zone, and Johnston potted his first of the year on the ensuing to breakaway to force overtime and a shootout. F Mathew Sisca scored in the first round for the Solar Bears, and with the teams tied 1-1 going into the fourth round it was Johnston who find the back of the net to lift the Solar Bears to the 3-2 shootout win over Florida. Tonight's game marks the fourth of 14 meetings between the two clubs as Orlando looks for back-to-back victories over their in-state rival.

Orlando City Soccer Night and Shades' Birthday:

The Orlando Solar Bears are honoring the Orlando City Soccer Lions USL PRO Championship team during the game tonight. There will be a special Orlando City Soccer highlight video before the drop of the puck, president Phil Rawlings will take part in the ceremonial puck drop, and the Solar Bears will hold an on-ice ceremony during the first intermission.

The Solar Bears are also celebrating the birthday of their mascot, Shades. The first 3,000 fans in attendance will receive Solar Bears Sunglasses in honor of the occasion.

Solar Bears Notes:

Goaltender John Curry set a new season high for Orlando with 34 saves in the game. He also stopped four the five shootout attempts... Orlando's last two games have each gone into a shootout. None of their previous five games went past regulation... Orlando plays their sixth game in eight days tonight. During that span, they have played in four different cities (Charleston, SC; Duluth, GA; Estero, FL; and Orlando, FL)... Both forwards Andrew Johnston and Ian Slater scored their first goals of the season in last night's game... The Solar Bears handed the Everblades their first loss of the 2013-14 season last night.

The Solar Bears are holding Military Appreciation Weekend for their games against the Toledo Walleye next Sunday and Monday, November 10th and 11th. F Matthew Pistilli is third in the ECHL with 11 points and seven goals. He was held off the scoresheet last night for just the second time this season... F Brandon MacLean is tied for seventh with eight points. MacLean leads the ECHL with three game winning goals... G Jesse Deckert is tied for second in the ECHL with four wins... For the first time this sesaon, the Everblades failed to come away with a full two points. They are now 6-0-0-1 to start the year. The best start in ECHL history came from the Dayton Bombers (1994-95) and Trenton Titans (2001-02), who each started 8-0-0... F Kyle Bonis leads all rookies with five goals... D Mike Cornell is second among rookies with a +6 rating... F Matthew Pistilli leads the Everblades in goals (7) and points (11)... F Brandon MacLean and D Jordan Henry are tied for the team lead in assists with five... Florida is sixth on the power play at 17.6% (6-for-34) and first on the penalty kill at 94.1% (32-for-34).
