Gameday: Everblades at Solar Bears, November 1, 2013
November 2, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Florida Everblades News Release
Orlando, FL - Fresh off their first loss of 2013-14, the Florida Everblades will head up the road to the Amway Center for the back end of a home-and-home series against the in-state rival Orlando Solar Bears Saturday at 7:00pm.
The Solar Bears ended the Blades' perfect start to the campaign with a 3-2 shootout win in Estero Friday, dashing Florida's hopes of breaking the ECHL's all-time mark of consecutive wins to open a season (8; 1994-95 Dayton Bombers, 2001-02 Trenton Titans).
Netminder John Curry paced the Bears' road win Friday, turning aside 34 of 36 shots and four of five shootout attempts by the Blades to get Orlando back to .500 at 3-3-0-1.
Mike Merrifield and Kellan Tochkin both recorded a goal and an assist in defeat for Florida; Tochkin has recorded points in consecutive appearances.
The Everblades' last visit to Orlando yielded their biggest comeback of the young season when a pair of Matt Pistilli goals powered a four-goal third period rally and a 4-2 win on October 19.
Saturday's intrastate rematch will be broadcast locally on FOX Sports Radio 1350 AM and worldwide online on America ONE, the official internet television provider for the ECHL, at www.americaonesports.com. Pregame coverage will get under way at 6:45pm.
