South Carolina Stingrays News Release


The Stingrays had an easy week last week only playing in one game yesterday. They traveled up to Columbia and won 3-2 with a shootout victory.

This is the first overtime/shootout win for the Rays who went 0-15 last season when playing past the third period.

Peter Szabo had the game-winning goal in the shootout. Other goal scorers in the shootout were Matt Reid and Evan Schwabe.

Goalie Davis Parley stopped 28 of 30 shots not including the three he stopped in the shootout to ensure the Stingrays victory.

Brendan Bernakevitch had his second goal in as many games.

Team Notes:

T.J. McElroy (D) is still on the 7 day IR after hurting his ankle last week.

The Stingrays are still ranked 1st for the league in overtime wins, but are now tied with Charlotte.

Going into the week, the Stingrays are ranked third in the Power Play, up one spot from last week.

Matt W. Reid (C) is 3rd in the league in goals with 7, just two behind the leader.

Davis Parley (G) is still in the top five of minutes (393) and saves (206) despite playing just one game last week.

Going into the week, the Stingrays have the 2nd highest total home attendance with 24,999. Gwinnett is in the lead with 27,493.

November 7, 2006

The Stingrays are 0-3-0 against Gwinnett this season. Let's see if the Rays can continue their momentum from Sunday to pull out a victory tonight. It's Firehouse Bar and Grill Night with $10 tickets anywhere in the Coliseum, $2 beers and 2 for 1 hotdogs. Game time is 7:05 p.m.

November 10, 2006

The Rays travel to Augusta to face the Lynx on Friday night. The teams have faced each other only once this season with a 4-2 victory in favor of the Stingrays. The Rays are 1-1-0 on the road; hopefully they'll improve their record tonight. Game time is 7:35 p.m.

November 11, 2006

Straight from the game at Augusta, the Rays travel to Pensacola to take on the Ice Pilots for the first time this season. Going into the week, the Ice Pilots are 1-8 with their only win coming at home. The puck drops at 8:05 p.m.

November 12, 2006

The Rays are back at home on Sunday November 12 against the Lynx for the second time in one weekend. It's Kid's Day sponsored by the Carolina Ice Palace. Make sure to stop by the promotions table to sign your waiver to Skate with the Rays after the game. It's also Charleston Miracle League Night sponsored by Hatton Construction. Members of the Miracle League will be in attendance and will participate in all intermission and pre-game activities.

Come out tonight to Blackbeard's Cove in Mt. Pleasant to hang out with Cail MacLean, Nate Kiser, Davis Parley, and Cam McCaffrey along with Cool Ray.
