STORM NOTES

* Sports Arena is the best home ice in the League! Although Toledo was defeated Friday night by Florida, The Storm rebounded by defeating Cincinnati Saturday night (3-2) and is the first team in the ECHL to reach 5 home wins. Toledo is 5-1-0 at home this season.

* Age is just a Number! Andrew Martin and Jamie Tardif (both first year professionals) currently lead the Storm in scoring. Both players have each scored 3 goals and added 3 assists. Martin is currently on a 5 game point streak.

* Penalty Shot! The most exciting play in hockey was part of the Storm victory Saturday night over Cincinnati. Jamie Tardif scored his third goal of the season, beating Dov Grumet-Morris on the first Storm penalty shot of the season. Joe Ernst was the referee who awarded the shot.

* Power Play! Toledo's Power Play had a terrific start to the week scoring on its first two chances of the week against the Johnstown Chiefs. Unfortunately, the Storm has not collected one since then (0-18). For the season, Toledo has 3 goals in 59 chances (5.1%).

* Penalty Kill! The Penalty Kill Unit has continued to perform well stopping 48 of 56 (85.7%) on the season. That ranks Toledo 12th among ECHL teams.

STORM WATCH

* Storm vs. Reading Friday Night! The Storm returns to action Friday night against the Reading Royals in the final game of a six game home stand. Toledo is 2-0-0 against the Royals this season, defeating Reading 3-2 in a shootout on October 27th and 4-3 on October 28th. Going back to last season, the Storm have won 8 consecutive games in the Toledo Sports Arena against Reading. Toledo out shot Reading 72-68 in the first two games this year. Storm forwards Andrew Martin, Scooter Smith, and Ken Magowan all collected 1 goal and 1 assist against the Royals in those two contests. Mike Berry (2 goals) and Mike Walsh (2 assists) also collected 2 points against Reading. For the Royals, Arpad Mihaly has scored 2 goals and 1 assist against Toledo this season. Mihaly leads the Royals on the season with 7 goals and 4 assists. Goaltender Ryan Munce has a record of 1-1-3 on the season, and has been in nets for all 3 of Readings shoot out losses.

* Dukes Birthday! Friday night, the Toledo Storm will celebrate the Birthday of Storm Mascot Dukes by bringing in the Zooperstars! The Zooperstars will perform at both intermissions during the Storm game vs. Reading. Dukes will be turning 8 years old, since his unveiling in 1998.

* Time to go on the Road! Saturday night, The Storm will start a string in which they will play 8 of 10 games away from the Toledo Sports Arena. In the first game of that run, Toledo will visit Johnstown for the first time this season. The Storm won the first meeting of the year, 5-3 on November 1. The line of Andrew Martin, Matt Zultek, and Jamie Tardif each had a goal in that contest for the Storm, while Logan Koopmans made 32 saves. The Storm power play enjoyed its best game of the year against the Johnstown penalty killers scoring twice. Stanislav Lascek, who has scored 2 goals while adding 8 assists, leads Johnstown in points. Randy Rowe tops the Chiefs in goal scoring with 5.

STORM TIDBITS

* Jamie Tardif is third among all ECHL players in shots with 37.

* Logan Koopmans is third among all ECHL goaltenders with 4 wins.

* Paul Crosty is second among rookies with 29 penalty minutes.

* Jon Sitko has collected at least 1 penalty in 5 consecutive home games (15 minutes).

* Nick Parillo is tops on the Storm in penalty minutes with 35.

* Dan Watson has the best plus/minus on the Storm (+5).

* Toledo is out shooting opponents 83-66 in the third period.

* Toledo is 5th in goals against per game, allowing just 2.57 per contest.

* Toledo is also fifth in shots per game averaging 35.57 per contest.

* Toledo is 5-0-0 when scoring the first goal of the game.

Andrew continued his strong start to his professional career as he has scored 3 goals and 3 assists in his first 5 games.

STORM GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK:

Logan Koopmans (2-1-0, 3.42 gaa, 0.910 save%)

Logan collected a couple of wins over division foes Johnstown and Cincinnati. His lone loss came in relief on Friday.
