Week In Review

Friday, Nov. 3 Augusta 4 vs. Pensacola Ice Pilots 6

The Ice Pilots rode a four-goal second period outburst to a 6-4 win over the Augusta Lynx on Friday to open a two-game set. Jamie Johnson registered three assists while J.B. Bittner scored twice to help pace the Augusta offense. Brendan Cook and Colin Hemmingway each scored twice in the middle frame to give the Ice Pilots their margin of victory.

Saturday, Nov. 4 Augusta 4 vs. Pensacola Ice Pilots 3

Augusta tallied four power play goals in the game, two from Joe Cardarelli, as they defeated the Ice Pilots 4-3. Cardarelli notched the game winner with his second of the night in the second period as Augusta went 4-for-15 with the man advantage in the game. Dave McKee stopped 34 shots for the win, while Jamie Johnson (four games) and Mike Erickson (three games) extended their point scoring streaks during the contest.

Lynx Radio Hour

This week there will be no Lynx Radio Hour due to the game in Gwinnett Monday night.

Player and Goaltender of the Week Nominations

Jamie Johnson (1-5-6) and Dave McKee (1-1-0) get this week's nods as Lynx player and goalie of the week nominees. Johnson has scored in every game since joining the team, notching a total of two goals and eight points in those four contests. McKee has seen action in all six Lynx games this year and is 3-1-0 overall.

Zooperstars Invade Military Appreciation Night!

The Lynx actually do get to play a home game this week as they take to the ice on Friday against the South Carolina Stingrays at 7:35 pm. It's Military Appreciation Night, with the Lynx offering buy one, get one free tickets for veterans! Single seats are $5 off for military personnel if not taking advantage of the buy one, get one free offer. Plus the Lynx will be wearing special jerseys in conjunction with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Augusta to be auctioned off at a later date.

Who's The New Guy?

Augusta was assigned defenseman Sean Blanchard from the Portland Pirates of the AHL prior to Monday's game with Gwinnett. Blanchard spent last season playing four games with Zurich in the Swiss Elite League with one assist and 14 minutes in penalties. His best season as a pro saw him notch 16 goals and 50 points with Ritten Renon in Italy during the 2003-04 season in 42 games. Blanchard will skate tonight as the Lynx visit the Gladiators at 7:35 pm.
